Weekly Update - March 3, 2013

Bingo Take Down – Monday March 4th & Chair Set Up – Wednesday March 6th
The sports group split the responsibility for Bingo Take Down and Chair Set Up throughout the season.  We are now into the part of the season that falls to the tennis club.  Tennis has a busy volunteer schedule this week.

We need volunteers to help do the take down of the Bingo tables and chairs on Monday (that’s tomorrow) March 4th.  Please come to the ballroom at 9pm.  Sieny Kouwenhoven leads the bingo chair take down.  The more people we have helping the faster it goes.  Generally when we get a good number of volunteers we are finished in 15 minutes.

Then on Wednesday, March 6th at 3pm we need to be at the Ballroom at 3pm to set up the chairs for the Chorus.  Please come out and lend a hand.  Ken Swanson leads the entertainment “chair set up”.  Once again, the more people the faster we get this done.
Please mark your calendars right now and spread the work so that it gets done quickly and no one is heavily burdened.

Saturday Night at the Courts
We are still planning on holding this event on Saturday, March 9th, but we’ll keep tabs on the forcast and we will let you know if anything changes.  Invitations went out to all club members as well as Palm Creek Staff who have helped the tennis club.  Rhoda and Pete also received an invitation as a thank you for all of the tennis instructor hours donated to the Palm Creek Tennis Club.  Please know that everyone is invited to bring guests – the more the merrier!!

Robert Burns found out that he will not be in the Park so Manfred Sohni will be playing.  It should be three great sets and lots of fun to watch.

People Update:
Carol Mason sent me an email update on their status:
Don is recovering well from his aortic valve replacement.  I dropped a heavy weight on my big toe and broke it so have been off the courts for six weeks. Plan to return this week.  We will be going to Kauai Hawaii for a winter break in March.

Tennis Courts
Some very disappointing news: I was recently informed that the rebuild of courts 5-8 originally scheduled to be changed to reinforced concrete during the off season of 2013 has been delayed.  This is no longer in the 2013 Palm Creek Budget.  It is now tentatively scheduled to be done during the summer of 2014 but that budget has not been prepared at this time.  I have informed Palm Creek Management of the problems with courts.  Hopefully repairs will be taking place very quickly.   I will stay on top of the situation.

See you on the courts,
Kate
