It Has Begun!!!!

The 2016-2017 Seaon for the Palm Creek Tennis Club is underway!!!
Bright and early this morning a great crew of hardy workers got started cleaning off our tennis courts. This is Arizona, after all....so the courts had a healthy layer of dust and sand accumulated over the summer.  With hoses, sprayers, brooms and plenty of water our volunteers got to work and did a great job finishing several courts before calling it a day as our backs tired out and the sun grew more intense.  (We plan to gather again Wednesday, October 12 at 7:30 am)

There was some great teamwork on the courts with the cleaning underway....thanks to the Olsens, Murrays, Williams' and Ron Bates for their time and effort!

We wondered if we could stucco a building with all the red mud we made.

PALM CREEK TENNIS CLUB Tournament

The Palm Creek Tennis Tournament will be held on February 26, 27, & 28. 

 It is a round robin tournament with three divisions in Men's, Women's, and Mixed.  

Women play at 9:00

Mixed at 11:00

Men at 1:00 EVERY DAY!  

$5 per person.  

Sign up will start on Friday, February 12, at noon.  Sign up sheets and entry forms will be in the tennis bulletin board.  First come, first serve.  Must have entry form and money turned in to complete entry.  Grab a partner, support your club, and use our new courts

You play EVERY day at your appointed time.  If you sign up for two events you will play twice each day.  Matches are best 2 out of 3 sets.  6 games for the first two sets (if tied do a 7 pt tiebreaker).  Third set is a 10 pt tiebreaker.

   You MUST turn in your entry form and money to Connie before you can be officially counted as registered.  All participants must be current members of the Tennis Club. If we have sixteen teams for mixed tennis, we will do four divisions.  Any questions please call Connie at 6030.

The Santan room was filled to capacity for an unbelievably fun party! Our Tennis Club has grown, united, and become an organization of involved, helpful members! Thank you Glenn Carter for your work in making this happen, and thank you to Don Baggett for keeping the tennis ball rolling!

A special thank you to Social Director, Roberta Gill and her large team of volunteers, Janice Jensen and her team for an incredibly delicious dinner, Larry Marik, our experienced Auctioneer,....he was so good and so funny. I know we have a record amount of $$$$ to present to the cancer charity in memory of former members, Carol Heinze and Bev Nirenberg. Thanks, also, to Don Baggett, our "Head Honcho" for managing a fabulous event from start to finish. So many others behind the scenes....thank you for getting involved!

Super Bowl of Tennis Happy Hour

Wednesday, February 3 was our Tennis Super Bowl of Tennis Happy Hour! Our packed Pavilion was filled with tournament teams. All gathered at designated tables to discuss their winning strategies!

Redneck Happy Hour

After our fabulous Redneck Tennis Tournament, we all moved to the pavilion for a 

fantastic Happy Hour.

We had a huge turnout!

Two of our Arkansas guests, Diane and Alice. Palm Creek loves Hot Springs Village for sharing their fun community with us.

Five or six delicious soups were made, and a dozen different breads and desserts.  All 98 of us enjoyed!

Our past president Glen Carter and first lady Jalene...the couple that just keeps giving to our tennis club!  We bet Glenn made sure all those tables and chairs were delivered to the pavilion!  Thank you Glenn!!

Notice that now we have a "theater in the round."

And the icing on the cake.....Joyce and Lloyd Woods and friends entertained us.  Their Bluegrass sense of humor and music on absolutely exquisite acoustic instruments, were wonderful.

So many to thank for this fun day.... The Baggetts, the Gills,  the Woods and friends, all of Roberta Gill's team, and Don Baggett's worker bees!
